WHEREAS, it is the purpose of the Corps of Cadets to produce leaders of exemplary character who are imbued with the concept of selfless service, and who are prepared to serve the Commonwealth and the nation both in and out of uniform, and

WHEREAS, it is the mission of the Corps at Virginia Tech to develop the whole person - mentally, morally and physically, and to instill in each cadet the attributes and competencies essential for successful leadership upon graduation, and

WHEREAS, it is the goal of the Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets to provide the outstanding, nationally recognized model for leader development and military education among Land-Grant universities, and

WHEREAS, Virginia Tech is the first Land-Grant university to offer a concentration in Leadership Studies, based in part on the leader-development curriculum of the Corps of Cadets, and

WHEREAS, every cadet in the Corps is evaluated in a leadership position for a minimum of two semesters,

THEREFORE, LET IT BE RESOLVED, that for students applying for admission to the university as members of the Corps of Cadets, entering Fall 1999.
